A simple guide to checking DTCP approval status online by survey number before finalising a plot.

DTCP approval — from the Directorate of Town and Country Planning — is the layout-level clearance required in many parts of Andhra Pradesh outside the direct jurisdiction of a metropolitan development authority. It confirms the layout meets planning norms for roads, drainage and open space, similar in spirit to a VMRDA or VUDA approval within city limits.

You can typically check a layout's DTCP status online through the department's portal, searching by the layout name, survey number, or the approval number the developer provides.

As with any approval check, treat it as one part of your due diligence alongside title verification, encumbrance certificates and — where the project qualifies — RERA registration.
